Acute kidney injury (AKI)

Questionnaire/history:

Nausea/vomiting?

Diarrhoea?

Evidence of dehydration?

Reduced urine output?

Changes to urine colour?

Fatigue, drowsiness or confusion?

Exposure to iodinated contrast agents within the past week?


Past medical history?

Current medication?

Drug allergies?


Diagnosis:

High serum creatinine (particularly if unwell for a few days)?

Rise in serum creatinine of >= 26 micromol/L within 48 h?

>=50% rise in serum creatinine (> 1.5 times baseline) known/presumed in past 7 d?

Fall in urine output to < 0.5 mL/kg/hour for > 6 h (if catheter)?
